Königstein Fortress

Königstein is a hilltop fortress near Dresden next to the Elbe river. If you’re visiting Bastei or Dresden city it’s a must to see this fortress. You can reach it walking uphill or using the lift! Yes, modern lift is available and included in the ticket price. The fortress itself is of course very interesting if you are fan of military buildings. But for me the best was small shop with nice cakes at the top. I just discovered that there’s a long line to one of the shops, so as a guy used to lines I joint it immediately. At the end the prize was great cake. Unbeatable taste that will always come to my mind if I think about Dresden and vicinity…

Bastei

Bastei – rock formation towering 194 meters above the Elbe River, Germany. Even in awful, rainy weather it’s worth visiting. You can’t count on good pics then, but still at least see if it’s worth revisit. The only problem is crowd and easy access to the place. First of all you don’t need to hike a lot from the parking – even disabled people can access it what is good. Another issue is proximity from polish border – it’s just max. two hours drive from Zgorzelec, so about 6-7 hours drive from Warsaw. I strictly recommend visiting the place, but choose your date smart. Good weather and probability of less people is the best option.
